What we do
Every program we run belongs to one of these. If it doesn't fit, we don't do it yet.
A curated roundup of the fellowships, grants, residencies, and roles that humanities-trained people are qualified for but rarely hear about — including the ones for people who are past entry level but not yet senior.
Essays and talks that take one philosophical idea and apply it to one live 2026 problem: AI and what counts as knowing, health policy and the ethics of care, governance and the philosophy of work.
Salons, gatherings, and workshops where philosophy is practiced out loud rather than read quietly — hosted in galleries and studios, not lecture halls.
Why we exist
Organizations building AI, setting health policy, and redesigning how people work are actively looking for people trained to ask better questions: to define terms, expose assumptions, and reason about consequences before the thing ships.
That's philosophical work. It just isn't labeled that way in any job posting.
Meanwhile the opportunities that would move a humanities career forward — fellowships, grants, residencies, applied research roles — are scattered across a hundred university pages, closed mailing lists, and PDFs nobody updates. Finding them is a full-time job that nobody is paid to do.
So we do it. And we put the people who need those doors in the same room as the organizations who should be opening them.
There's a stage between "early career" and "mid-career" that has no name and no programming. You're too experienced for the entry-level fellowship and too early for the senior fellowship. Every list skips you.
The Philosopher Society is built for that stage first — because that's where the most capable people quietly get stuck.

The Philosopher Society exists because she kept meeting brilliant humanities-trained people who couldn't find the door, and organizations who couldn't find them.
